Suevite, Wanapitei Impact structure (Canada)

Suevite, Rochechouart impact structure (France); Chassenon green variety.

Suevite, Rochechouart impact structure (France); Montoume red variety.

Suevite, Ries impact structure (Germany); Otting quarry. Note the dark melt clasts and the light, strongly shocked clast from the crystalline basement.

Suevite, Ries impact structure (Germany); Aumühle quarry. Coin diameter 22 mm.

Suevite, Ries impact structure (Germany); Aumühle quarry: suevite overlying Bunte breccia ejecta.

Suevite, Ries impact structure (Germany); Polsingen variety. Different from the other suevites in the Ries crater with a clastic matrix, the Polsingen suevite has a matrix which is considered a crystallized impact melt. In the strict sense of the IUGS nomenclature (see above), the Polsingen variety is rather an impact melt rock and not a suevite.

Suevite, Lappajärvi impact structure (Finland).

Suevite, Dellen impact structure (Sweden).

Suevite, Sääksjärvi impact structure (Finland).
